Match 4

Tuesday March 14th, 2017, 7pm, Soufriere Mini Stadium

Clement & Maximin Bat Big, Help Fond St Jacques Sink Faith United

Clement & Maximin Game 4
- Clement & Maximin, unbeaten 79 run partnership

The rescheduled game from Saturday March 11th saw Fond St Jacques and Faith United take the field for the first time in the tournament.

Faith United won the toss & chose to field; like the teams before them hoping to capitalize on the tournament's 100% chasing record and hoping to restrict Fond St Jacques to a low total.

With Faith's bowlers getting some movement off the pitch and generating good pace, it looked like their bowling would be devastating after snagging the first 4 wickets which fell to good bowling and fielding.

An unbeaten 79 run 5th wicket partnership of Denny Clement 44* off 28 and Anais Maximin 36* off 34 ended all hopes of a low total. With Clement seeming to smash the ball to the boundary with ease whenever he connected, two massive hits over the long on boundary seeing the ball on its way to the Soufriere factory. Fond St Jacques 141 for 5 in 20 overs posting up the tournament's highest total so far.

Bowling for Faith United, Hilliaran Smith 1 for 17, Methodius Paul 1 for 26, Zack Anthony 1 for 26 and Jemmi Mauricette 1 for 28.

With a target of 142 to win Faith United started the chase tentatively but looked like they would make the most of the overs to try to chip away at those runs. Wickets seemed to keep falling at regular intervals as the innings progressed. Jemmi Mauricette top scored for them with 26 off 27 ball aided by Dwight Thomas' 20 off 17, Faith United manages to get to 111 all out in 18.2 overs.

Fond St Jacques was just as good with the ball on a wicket that looked to have something in it for both bat and ball. Kendal Theophane snags 3 for 25, Denny Clement 2 for 7 and Kervell Prospere 2 for 8 were the peak of the bowlers.

Fond St Jacques wins by 31 runs, just a little too much to chase on this night for Faith United. Faith will hope to tighten their bowling even further and hope that their strong bowling attack can penetrate the opposition beyond the middle order in their match vs Team Unite tonight (Wednesday, 15th March, 7pm).
