Match 10

Team Unite Rally Then Dominate, Eliminating Fond St Jacques

Match 10 Sanjay Pamphile
- Sanjay Pamphile 30* off 13 & 5 wickets for 10 runs

Both teams going into this game were confident that they would be able to secure their berth in the semis. This winner take all match saw a good crowd turn out to support. Fond St Jacques (FSJ) won the toss and chose to bowl. A decision that proved wise as FSJ turned the screws early in the powerplay utilizing the pace and bounce in the pitch to pin down Team Unite in the powerplay overs.

Having been pinned down early (25/1 after 7 overs), Team Unite looked to pick up the pace. They scored quicker outside of the powerplay with Garvin St Aimee hitting a few quick fire boundaries. The runs continued even after his fall.

FSJ did manage to grab wickets and Team Unite were 4 wickets down. A big 69 run 5th wicket partnership of Clem St Rose 31* off 24 and the hard hitting Sanjay Pamphile 30* off 13 brought Team Unite up to 159/4 after 20 overs, the tournament's highest score to date.

Pamphile was dropped earlier and he made FSJ pay the price for that error with some clean hitting through the onside. Another batting contribution for Team Unite was Maverick Pamphile's 28 off 18. Top bowling for FSJ Kurstan Jules 2 for 20 and Shadrach Nestor 1 for 22.

With 160 to chase, FSJ were set a mighty task. They started off their chase well at 26/1 after 3 overs. But wickets kept tumbling and Sanjay Pamphile proved to be just as dangerous with ball as with bat at 5 for 10 runs. Matherson St Rose 3 for 17, Clem St Rose 1 for 30 and Marcus St Rose 1 for 22 finished off FSJ quickly. Team Unite win by 77 runs bowling out FSJ for 83 in 13.5 overs. Batting for FSJ saw top scorers Shadrach Nestor 16 from 14 and Alvon Joseph 13 from 13.

With that victory Team Unite advances to Semi Final Saturday on April 1st. They are likely to face Challengers who sit top of Group 1 unless their NRR is good enough for 1st place in Group 2 which is unlikely due to Belfond's massive NRR going into their last game versus Faith United.

The current tournament standings are as follows in order of lead:
Group 1: Challengers 6 points (played 3), Zenon 2 points (played 2), River Roots 2 points (played 3), New D' Knights 0 points (played 2)

Group 2: Belfond 4 points (played 2), Team Unite 4 points (played 3), Fond St Jacques 2 points (played 3), Faith United 0 points (played 2)
